VIVA LA VERVE WEEK 4 CAS

Hello again sweeties and a big welcome to my two newest followers: Donna Nuce and Kim Hughes! I hope you aren’t tired of looking at cards yet.  This one is a CAS card for the Viva la Verve March week 4 sketch challenge.  I know, this isn’t really CAS, but I just had to make it this way.

Mom Bday

I was fortunate enough to win some Zva Creative products in one of their blog hops.  I had a chance to use one of the flourishes on this card. The blue was a perfect match for the blue roses!

Mom Bday2

The papers are just white card stock that is distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and cut using a Spellbinders Label Eighteen and a Martha Stewart double border punch.  The technique is from his Creative Chemistry 101 class. The pretty sentiment and flourishes are from Inspired by Stamping’s All Year Wishes II set. I used Liquid Pearls in the center of the flowers.

Mom Bday3

These roses are from one of my new toys! Quilled Creations has new quilling dies for several different types of flowers, and they work with my Big Shot. These roses are made using the Blooming Roses dies. There are 3 sizes and all are perfect for cards. The leaves are included on the smallest rose die.

WHY CAN’T I CATCH UP or Sketch Challenge #113

Hi again! This is my second post for today and yes, it is the sketch challenge from LAST Sunday at Operation Write Home’s*  Stars and Stamps blog.  And I still have cards that I have not posted, so stay tuned. I’ll try to get them all posted today so I will be current for this week. Whew!

I am still playing with digital images and paper from Doodle Pantry and I really love how the cards turn out.

OWH Sketch 113

This is a free pre-colored image (I LOVE those!) called Tweet House Color. The papers are from the Cocoa Ants set and the sentiment is from another free set just called Tweet House which is the image, not colored, along with sentiments.

OWH Sketch 113_2

I attached the sentiment using a red eyelet and added some flowers and ribbon.

YOU’RE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

Happy Sunday to all my blogging friends. I hope your weekend is going well and you are getting revived for the week to come.  I have been crafting, a lot, and have lots of cards to share.  This one is for Stamp School’s color challenge and of course will be going in my next Operation Write Home* box of cards. I used to wonder what I would do with all of the cards I make, but not any more! I have to work hard to get cards made fast enough to get them sent out.  I love making them for OWH though.  I really enjoy knowing my card will be used by one of our troops to touch bases with home.  And I know how terribly important those notes are.  If you have never made cards for OWH, why don’t  you pop over to their site and check it out?
SSColor2
At Stamp School, the color challenge is to make a card using Cotton Candy, Gumdrop Green and Limeade. Don’t you just love this color combo?  I just winged the layout; no sketch challenge for this baby!
SSColor3
I love this Verve sentiment, and because this is going to OWH I thought the sentiment very appropriate.  The hummingbird and flower are from my old stamp stash.
SSColor4
This border is from a Martha Stewart border punch. The ribbon flowers are from AC Moore.
SSColor
I used a flat bow on this card as I am still trying to minimize bulk.

TIM HOLTZ CREATIVE CHEMISTRY 101 DAY 3

Hi girlies! Wow, I am having a blast with the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry Class.  I just love Distress Inks, Stains, etc and he is doing a fantastic job explaining when to use the different inks.

Since my cards tend to have layers and bulk, I wanted to take this class to see if I can learn ways to add depth and dimension without bulk. I also think it will give me lots of ideas for masculine cards since I think Tim’s dark colors make a great palette for male oriented cards. LOL with that said, my first card is not masculine at all.

I don’t have any tags; I decided that was something I didn’t have to buy to play, so today, I have a card for you using his Stamping with Reflections Technique.

    OWH Color Challenge 3_21

Over at Operation Write Home* the MWTD challenge is to make cards using the colors yellow and green for our heroes to send home to their family and friends. So with some Craftwell card stock, Tim Holtz embossing folder, stamps and Distress Inks I came up with this.

    OWH Color Challenge 3_21_2

Hero Arts butterfly stamps and Judy Kins Whispy Bamboo stamp make up the image.

    OWH Color Challenge 3_21_3

    OWH Color Challenge 3_21_4

Prima flowers, specialty ribbon and lace finish up the card. So, very little bulk but lots of texture and dimension. What do you think?

    VIVA LA VERVE WEEK 2

Hey y’all! I have a lot of cards made that I need to get posted! I’ve been having fun with some new techniques, new toys, and new digi’s.  Today’s card was made using the Viva la Verve March Week 2 sketch and Doodle Pantry digital image and paper. Let’s have a look at the card:
    VLVMarWk2
I just adore this image and coordinating paper from Doodle Pantry.  I got it for free just from playing in their challenge!  This was such a quick and easy card.  A little stitching, some die cutting, distress ink, put it all together and add a ribbon. How easy is that!
    VLVMarWk2_2
This is a pre-colored image cut out using a Spellbinders die and then distressed with Distress Ink. The tag is distressed with the same ink.
    AROUND MY HOUSE:
Now that I know what regiment my son is in, I was able to find them on Facebook! He is a Delta Dawg (LOL). You just have to love that name. I even saw him in some of the pictures!  In this picture I could see his profile behind some other guys, but most importantly, he is smiling. That made me happy.

    MISSING YOU

    VLVMarWk3_2
Hi blogging friends. I made this card this weekend, but I have to admit, tonight I am posting it as I think about my son. We got our first letter from him today (yay, now we have an address for him) and he is doing ok.  He is doing the gas chamber tomorrow (Thursday). If you have no idea what I am talking about, you can see a video here.   Just click the dropdown arrow by “Making of a Soldier” and choose gas chamber. That just does not look like fun to me!
Well, enough of that. Let’s talk about the card! This card was made using the Viva la Verve Week 3 sketch along with a Verve sentiment and Doodle Pantry digital image and paper; however, I would first like to talk about the BG paper.
The BG was created using the Wrinkle Distress technique and Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  You are going to see quite a bit of his techniques from me over the next couple of weeks because I am taking his Creative Chemistry 101 on line class and boy is it fun!  This BG is not something I learned from the class, but I did learn from one of Tim Holtz’s videos.
    VLVMarWk3_3
Here you see a close up of the Verve sentiment and the Doodle Pantry image that I just adore.
    VLVMarWk3
The papers forming the center panel are the digi papers from Doodle Pantry.
