MMM Week 46 & CAS-ual Fridays CFC50

Hi to all my blogging friends. I am so happy you chose to stop by to see my new creation for Operation Write Home*.

Rubber Stamp Tapestry has these incredible new stencils that I have been dying to play with for a few weeks now!  They also have a set of concentric hearts that I just love and used for this card. You can see all of Susan’s new items at Rubber Stamp Tapestry by clicking here!

Here is a close-up of the detail. I’m sure my stenciling will get better with practice, but I think it turned out ok.  I could not resist doing a Bluebird because I am seeing them all over the neighborhood.

The background technique is done using Tim Holtz Distress Inks and a blending tool. Once finished I used water to create the spots in the ink to make it look more distressed.  The pansy is one I made using one of Operation Write Home’s tutorials that you can see here. I need more practice to make mine as pretty as the ones in the tutorial, but I love making them!

The heart is a Sizzix Sizzlit and is stamped with a Rubber Stamp Tapestry sentiment.  This simple card is then finished with a pretty ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and some purple rhinestones.

MOJO MONDAY ON FRIDAY?

Hi cuties! What a GORGEOUS morning! After several days of clouds and rain, we awakened to sunshine and singing birds.  I had a nice walk with Joy and now enjoying my first cup of coffee. Temperature outside is 74 degrees at 9:15am! Oh yeah, that’s what I’m talking about….

Today I am sharing my Mojo Monday creation for this week. The MOJO238 sketch is from the very sweet and talented Mary Fish, and here is my card…..

These wonderful papers are from the K&Co Juianna 6x6 pack and the stamps, both sentiment and flower, are from Verve’s One Person set.  I love how well the RRR ribbon matched this paper. The pink flourish is from ZVA.

The pretty antique leaves and brad are from Tim Holtz.

CAS-ual FRIDAYS CFC49 SKETCH CHALLENGE

Hi everyone! I’m back from my visit with my daughter and trying to catch up with house work, cards, and my blog.  Whew it was a fun week and now I am tired LOL.  I’ll share some pictures with you later in this post, but for now, let’s talk about cards.

Specifically, let’s talk about CAS-ual Fridays CFC49 sketch challenge card that I made.  It is that time of year for graduations and I have my first invitation.  So I made this graduation card using the CFC sketch.

The little framed window is popped up using foam tape.  Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Sand Dollar and Starfish Border peg set was used to fill the window and create the path down to the sentiment. The sentiment stamps are from the stamp set I won in Stamp School’s February giveaway.

Not a traditional graduation card, but for someone who loves the beach, I thought it would be appropriate.

VACATION:

Here are a few pictures taken while I was with my daughter.

I love to watch Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on Food Network. One night we saw Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint on the show.  It was very close to where my daughter lives, and being a huge Bar-B-Que fan, I just had to go there. I definitely was not disappointed.  The Bar-B-Que was outstanding! It was tender, juicy and very tasty, so if you love Bar-B-Que (and since I am from the South that means PORK) and you are near Nolansville, TN, you must stop by Martin’s and give it a try.

Too bad we didn’t have any together, but I just love her pictures!

    MORE MUSCLE CARDS

Ah, Sunday afternoon. What words describe it best? Rest, relaxing, family, reading, crafting.  What words do you use to describe Sunday afternoon? Although I am retired, I still LOVE my Sunday afternoons. As a child, nothing was open on Sunday. You went to church, visited family and played with friends.  There was a “Blue Law” that kept all stores closed.  I know I am dating myself, but I just cannot get over how much our lives have changed, particularly on Sunday. Sometimes, it is hard to remember that nothing was open on Sunday…..absolutely nothing! And there was nothing on TV for kids, at least no cartoons, so we really had to be innovative to come up with things to do. I remember going to my grandparents’ houses on Sunday and playing with cousins, or with my brother.  Wow, so long ago!!

Today’s cards are for the Operation Write Home* Stars and Stamps blog challenge Midweek Throw Down – Father’s Day.  LOL I was just looking at the submissions for the challenge and realize I am going overboard. Please forgive me for posting so many, I just want to make sure I get all of my cards made in time for the Muscle Card challenge and Sandy opened the door with this Father’s Day challenge!

The papers are digital from Doodle Pantry’s Vintage Auto Digital Paper Pack and the car is from the Vintage Auto Color Plus pack. The brown paper is Craftwell.
