BIBLE JOURNAL #12

Hello blogging friends!  What a glorious week we have had here in NC! Well, we did have some terrible storms, but the days have been beautiful. Any way, getting on with this post, I love this verse and wanted to share it with you this week:

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

Since I am now retired, I find I finally have time to explore things I have always wanted to do. I never felt I could draw. As recently as Christmas, I was telling my friend I cannot draw. Well, I started my Bible journal and started seeing such beautiful drawings. I became interested in Zentangle and I believe God led me to this art form to use in my journal! I hope to look back at the end of the year and see my growth in God and art. Have a great day!

ZENTANGLE INSPIRED ART #1

Hello friends! Today, I am sharing a piece of Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) that I just finished. This is my first one, so I’m excited to share it.

I have been seeing such beautiful gems at Wholehearted Creations FaceBook page and wanted to give it a try. You will be seeing more of those! The dangles were inspired by Joanne Fink at Zenspirations® Create, Color, Pattern, Play! Joanne does gorgeous drawings and incredible lettering. I’m still working on that!

Well that is it for today. I would love to hear what you think of my attempt at ZIA! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy crafting!

BIBLE JOURNAL #9

Hello blogging friends!  This week, I am back to a more traditional Bible journal entry.

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.” Proverbs 21:2 (ESV)

This verse holds so much truth. How many times have I been convinced that I was doing what is right and just kept doing it without any thought about what God wants? Too many too count! This verse reminds me that no matter what I think is wright, or wrong, I need to make sure I am doing what God wants me to do. We all know this, but we get caught up in life and forget to slow down and talk to God. Every day, I see more and more why my Word for 2016 is “abide”!

PLAYING WITH ZENTANGLE….

Hello blogging friends!   Today, I have another Zentangle design using a template from Zenspirations® Create, Color, Pattern, Play!

and here is what I created:
Courtesy Joanne Fink
I showed you the original so you could see what I added. I love playing with Zentangle and will be using it to design some of my greeting cards. Once I added in all of the designs, I shaded some in pencil and then colored the rest with Copic markers.
Zentangle is a relaxing way to play creatively, even if you are not an artist.  Zenspirations® Create, Color, Pattern, Play! is a great place to go to get “Zenspired” as well as inspire others. I will be sharing this on Joanne’s FB page.

BIBLE JOURNAL 8

Hello blogging friends!  This week, I am back to a more traditional Bible journal entry.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up..” Galatians 6:9 (ESV))

The text is hand lettered and the flowers are hand drawn. I used colored pencils to color them (I love my Copics but they bleed through). In additional to working on hand lettering and Zentangle, I found some great how-to art videos. I used some of what I have learned to draw the flowers.

BIBLE JOURNAL #3

Hello blogging friends!  How was your week? It has been rainy and cold here most of the week, but this weekend has been clear and a tiny bit warmer. This was one of those weeks where everything gets out of whack and doesn’t go as planned, so I got really behind on everything. Here is my Bible Journal entry for this week, and I believe my journal for next week will be a companion to this one.

“As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.” 1 John 2:24 (ESV)

My word for this year is ABIDE. I looked up all verses that include the word abide and was surprised at how many there are. Next, I decided to look up synonyms to use in my journal entry. I have only included five this week. I chose these five because they fit the meaning in this verse. I am excited to learn more about what the Bible has to say about ABIDE and share more thoughts on it.

BIBLE JOURNAL

Hello blogging friends! This year, I started a Bible Journal. I have been seeing them on Pinterest and got really interested in combining art with Bible study. Needless to say, I am very new to this, so my page is nothing like the beautiful ones I have seen on Pinterest, but I wanted to share it. My plan is to share a new journal page every Sunday, so if you like it, please let me know, and come back again!

Here is my first ever Bible Journal page:

““I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” ‭‭John‬ ‭15:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬ (http://bible.com/59/jhn.15.1-2.esv)

Some of the fruits of the Spirit are love, peace, faithfulness, long suffering, gentleness, self-control, goodness, kindness and joy. I wanted to include them so that when I see this entry I am reminded of these attributes and strive to exemplify them in my life. I used colored pencils and a black micro tip pen for this entry.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Please take a second to let me know what you think!

Have a blessed Sunday!
