I LOOK UP TO YOU

Hello all my dear friends. It is time for another challenge at Inkspirational and since it's the second week of our challenge month that means we've got a fabulous photo for you to be inkspired by! 

Here is my DT card:

When I saw the inspiration photo, this Cosmo Cricket paper came immediately to mind. I really love the colors and love how the card turned out. And, who doesn’t love Zoo Crew! I think this giraffe is just adorable, especially with that googly eye!

Inkspirations Challenge #97

Hi sweet friends! I am so happy it is the Christmas season because it is my most favorite time of the year.  I know, it is busy; it seems like there is something to do all the time, but have you ever noticed how nice people are this time of year?  Really, so many people are helpful and smiling I always wonder why people cannot act this way all the time.
One of my daily goals is to make someone smile. I don’t care who, or where, or why but someone needs to smile for me.  I especially love checking out at the grocery store, and you know, the cashiers are usually so busy and only thinking of getting your groceries checked and bagged, or they are just grumpy in general.  It makes my day to get that cashier to smile before I leave!  And the sad thing is, they seem truly surprised to be treated kindly…. oh well, enough blah blah and on to my card!!
This card is for the Inspirations sketch challenge #97….

STAMPS

• 10 x 5” base folded in half
• 3 1/2  x 3 1/2” square
• Off white for sentiment
• • 2 1/4 x 1 7/8”

INKS

• VersaColor
• Polar Blue
• Black

TOOLS

• Sewing machine

ACCESSORIES

• Lace
• Light blue rhinestones

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut all paper
2. Glue the strip to the panel and then use sewing machine to stitch around the edges.
3. Use a template to sponge an oval with Polar Blue VersaColor.
4. Stamp the oval from the Beautiful Ovals set centering it on the sponged oval
5. Use All Year Wishes II to stamp the sentiment .
6. Attach the lace across the panel and adhere layers to folded cardstock.
7. Attach oval sentiment and rhinestones.

Inkspirations Challenge #93

To all my wonderful blogging friends, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! It turned “cold” here (that means it got into the 40’s) and this morning was a little rainy so I was able to spend time playing with paper today.  I also am staining a table I bought to set my sewing machine on!!! That means I’ll be able to start stitching on my cards! Yea!!!!!

So, today I have a card for you that I am submitting to Inkspirations Challenge #93.  This is my first time placing a card in their challenge so I am very excited.  Oh, here is my card:

Since I like layers on cards, I fell in love with this sketch!  All those pretty layers offering so many possibilities make me very happy.  I ended up combining two different coordinating sets of paper; one from DCWV The Four Seasons and one from MME Lost & Found Christmas.  The gorgeous greens and reds are from DCWV and the soft kraft/brown is from MME.  I also used my new Cuttlebug embossing folder on the base layer and highlighted the little dots with red glitter glue.  My sewing machine got in on the action by stitching up my ribbon.  She is so happy to be out and used again.

For this medallion, I used a scrap of the DCWV paper and Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles Large to make a base. I then used a 3” circle punch on white paper and Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Cardinal Resting in Holly Set to make the design.  I also used their Merry Christmas Peg Stamp - Mini to add the sentiment.   Once it was all stamped and the ink was heat set, I used a Versamark stamp pad over the entire circle; then added SU Stampin’ Emboss – Clear to give the medallion a shiny finish.

The card is then finished off with my stitched ribbon, Prima poinsettias, red glitter glue and red half-pearls.  Complete instructions are below, so just scroll down if you want details.

Measurements (approximate):

• The card is standard 5 x 7 .
• Base panel DCWV The Four Seasons 5 x 7 embossed with Cuttlebug 
• Black cs 5 1/4 x 3 1/4
• MME 5 x 3
• MME 4 x 2
• DCWV Same as base for Spellbinder die
• DCWV Red border from same set is approx 1 1/2” wide, so cut 2 pieces 5” and use them together to make a 3” panel to go across the card
• White cs for 3'” circle punch

 

Instructions

1. Cut all paper pieces
2. Emboss the base panel
3. Cut base for medallion using Spellbinders. I used the next to largest one.
4. Stamp the circle with Rubber Stamp Tapestry Cardinal Resting in Holly Set , and Merry Christmas Peg Stamp - Mini then use heat gun to heat set the ink. 
5. Use Versamark pad to cover circle and then add SU clear embossing powder. Make sure you cover the entire circle completely and then heat with heat gun.  The colors will pop out as you do this and the finish will be glossy.
6. Adhere all layers and ribbon.
7. Add pearls, flowers and red glitter glue
