TI#166: DON’T BE SQUARE

Happy day sweet friends!  I am stopping in today to share my card that I am submitting to the Tiddly Inks challenge.

(A2: Stamps:  Tiddly Inks (Be Merry and Bright Pup); Cut file: Cameo; Markers: Copic; )

The challenge this week is Don’t’ Be Square: No squares allowed. I made a shaped rectangle card on my Cameo. The image and sentiment are from Tiddly Inks, and I colored them with Copic markers. I cut a rectangle in the DP and popped the sentiment up with foam tape. I enlarged one of the birds, colored him and fussy cut. He is attached with foam tape too. I hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Here is a link to the challenges so you can join in the fun!

OUR DAILY BREAD DESIGNS CHALLENGE AT OWH

Each month, Our Daily Bread Designs hosts a challenge at Operation Write Home*. This month, their challenge for us is a shaped card.  For every 25 cards we post, ODBD will donate the shipping of one box of cards to our heroes.  Please help us meet our goal of at least 50 cards by making your shaped card and posting it here.

OK, I know I am getting old, but I seriously forget where I read about the woman who got a Happy Birthday card for her Anniversary because her hubby could not find an Anniversary card in Afghanistan.  WOW! I just hadn’t thought of using that sentiment….ok, so now I’m dinghy and senile.. oh wait. My DH said that is not new *snort*.  Any way, I want to make sure I get a couple of these in my boxes from now on!

I recently made a shaped card using Spellbinders (you can see it here) so I wanted to try something different for this shaped card. Ugh…. I always have these great ideas that turn into a nightmare.  I used Tim Holtz Alterations brackets for this card, which means I had to make sure I matched up the sides and the top/bottom because I had to cut one edge at a time.  Add to that, I made the card base in the same shape except the top folded over. So the base for the decorative piece had to match how I cut out the actual card………. I won’t be making another one of these any time soon LOL. And, I am sure I probably made this harder than it should have been, but that is how I roll. Winking smile

With that said, I do like the overall card.  I have been watching Sandy talk about coloring and decided to buy a set of Copics.  I don’t have a lot of colors yet, but I like the way the heart turned out.  I used Spellbinders Lacey Square and Classic Square to make the frame. With the little center piece that was left over, I mounted the heart and “popped” it up. This is also based on sketch 124.

    FMS#36 and MMM50

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!! I am finally back from vacation and making cards again! We had such a wonderful trip and were thrilled to see our son graduate from Army Basic Training. He is still at Ft. Benning for three months, then hopefully a leave!!!!!

Splitcoaststampers Wednesday Tutorial is shaped cards, so I decided to combine that with Freshly Made Sketches sketch this week. The Splitcoaststampers tutorial can be seen here.

Make My Monday is looking for wildflowers and grasses this week, so I pulled out my Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamps and got busy.  I used RST’s Believe/Dream/Peace Designer Block Prints leaf stamp to make the 3 squares.  I then used their Little Posy Basket peg set and Miss You block stamp for the focal panel.

The DSP is from Prima’s Botanical collection 6 x 6 paper stack and the card stock is from Recollections.  I used my sewing machine to stitch the panels together.

A Michaels flower, ZVA flourish, some stitching and seam binding finish this little card up.

THIS CARD QUALIFIES FOR THESE CHALLENGES:

Make My Monday Week 50 – Wildflowers and Grass: Please remember that this is a floral themed challenge and the flowers or grasses should be the main focus of your projects and not just added as embellishments - thank you.

This is Grant at Graduation in his dress uniform. They do not wear the coat in hot weather because too many soldiers pass out during the ceremony.

And here he is in his regular uniform….

    ….and with proud Dad….

    …and proud Mom!
