CHRISTMAS AT MY HOUSE….

Hello my dear blogging friends! I am always so happy to know that you have stopped by, Hopefully, you will enjoy the Christmas decorations I am sharing today!

My mantel is different every year. This year, I went with whimsical and icy.

IMG_0730

The stocking holders are tradition for us. They are all over 20 years old, so I cannot imagine a Christmas without them! My Mom crocheted my stocking which is the one to the far right. Hubby is a Redskins fan, so his is the one on the far left. We still put up our son’s stocking and hopefully he will be here next year, along with his new wife! The green one is for my dog, Joy and the tiny one in the center is for my bird George.

The Happy Holidays sign above was red, blue and yellow. I think I bought it one year from one of those school PTA fund raisers. It just didn’t go with anything, so I used acrylic paint, Crackle Paint, glitter and Flower Soft to update it!

The birdhouse needed updating to, so I used Crackle Paint and glitter to give it an icy look.

What is the theme for your mantel this year? Do you change it every year? Please leave a comment to let me know what you think of mine!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I am so happy you visited!

Happy Crafting!

DOODLE PANTRY AND ALOHA FRIDAY CHALLENGE

Hello my Doodle Pantry friends! Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the challenge at Aloha Friday Challenge today!   I’m sure you will want to go over and play in the challenge, but first I have a little inspiration for you. The theme is “Use at least 3 patterned paper scraps”:

(A2; Digital stamp set: Doodle Pantry (Zoo Critters 1 and Winter Bear)

These two cuties, and the sentiment, were merged onto the plain light blue paper that comes with the Zoo Critters 1 set. I printed twice so I would have an extra penguin. Then I colored the penguins with Copic markers and fussy cut the one on the right (from the second printing). I then added him with foam tape for dimension. I used the printed papers from Zoo Critters 1 (the light blue and black/gray squares) and chose the snowflake paper from Winter Bear. I did some matting and added tiny rhinestones.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Now it is  your turn! Get over to Aloha Friday Challenge and show us what you create!

GREAT IMPRESSIONS JANUARY CHALLENGE

Hello to all of my Great Impressions friends! Welcome back for more inspiration from the Great Impressions store! Today is the start of our January challenge! Are you ready for it? This month, our challenge is: SNOW FRIENDS! Here is a little something to hopefully inspire you!

When I think of snow friends, my first thought is for the birds, so I chose this winter birdhouse and created a snowy background. The night sky is just distress inks sponged onto the white card stock and snow added with a stencil. The white paper at the base of the card is some velvet like paper I had in my stash. I decided to try stamping directly onto it, and I think it came out ok. What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by for a bit of inspiration from Great Impressions.

Now it is your turn to try our current challenge

GREAT IMPRESSIONS INSPIRATION SATURDAY

Hello to all of my Great Impressions friends! Welcome back for more inspiration from the Great Impressions store!

Today is the second Saturday and our GI monthly challenge is in full swing, so you still have time to join in!  Today, I thought I would try to trigger your Christmas spirit with a little more Christmas cheer!

(A2: Stamps: Great Impressions Stamps (Merry Kiss Moose - H236 and Trimmings - B228); Copics; Stencil: Simon Says Stamp (Falling Snow); Embossing Paste)

I have a feeling you are going to see this guy on more than one card! Not only is he adorable, I just love his Christmas ornaments hanging from his antlers!

I went CAS with this one so I could add the snowfall and put touches of glitter embossing powder in it. I guess I could have added snow on his back and antlers, but I was afraid I would mess him up! What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by for a bit of inspiration from Great Impressions.

Be sure to come check out our current challenge
ARE YOU PLAYING?

VLVSeptWk4: WINTER WISHES

Hello crafty friends. I have another entry for the Viva la Verve challenge. This card was made using the Viva la Verve sketch for September week 4.

(A2: Stamps:  Die: Die-Versions Sweet Spot, Spellbinders; DSP: MME (Vintage Christmas))

How about a little vintage Christmas this time! I recently got the Die-Versions Sweet Spot die and wanted to play with it. I used the Week 4 sketch, added a small double bow and a white poinsettia. A little stitching and a few rhinestones were also added.

Thanks for stopping by!

Here is a link to the challenge so you can join in the fun!

LIM148; COS22; HAPPY WINTER

Hi again! Another quick post, this time for Less is More and CAS on Sunday.

(A2; Stamps: Doodle Pantry (Winter Critters (prev. sold by CDS)); Rubber Stamp Tapestry (Winter Night Sky); EP: Inkadinkado; Paper: Neenah (Solar White), CutMates (Olive Oil))

I love it when I can combine a couple of challenges and it works! The LIM challenge is Sparkle and the COS challenge is a winter theme, so I used the new DP set, Winter Critters, and fussy cut the adorable Huskie and used a SB oval to cut the sentiment. I also used a square SB to cut the green square and rounded two corners. I then attached everything with removable double sided tape and used the snowflake from RST’s Winter Night Sky to emboss the snowflakes using blue and silver mixed. After the embossing was finished, I removed the images, added foam tape on the green square and the Huskie and attached them aligned with the snowflakes. I’m not sure if you can see it in the picture, but the snowflakes are sparkly.

Thanks for stopping by!

HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY IS TOTALLY COOL

Well, happy Black Friday dear friends. If you are like me, you are at home enjoying the peace and quiet. If you are one who chooses to join in the hustle and bustle of Black Friday, best wishes for a successful shopping trip! I have another Doodle Pantry card for you today! This one is for the Rogue Redhead challenge (a new one for me).

(A2; Stamps: Doodle Pantry (Winter Birthday) includes papers, sentiment and image; Dies: Spellbinders (Oval), Paper Smooches (Scalloped Tag, Border); Ribbon: Really Reasonable Ribbon)

How cute is that snowman? I thought he was adorable and loved the pre-colored image in the set, so I used it. I sponged the sentiment while it was still in the die, and used bakers string to attach the balloon to the snowman (since I fussy cut the image).

Be sure to pop over to the Doodle Pantry blog and join in the fun because we are having a sale!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi sweet friends! It’s time again for TECHNIQUE TIME TUESDAY!  YES! A video tutorial of another awesome technique from my very sweet friend, Mynnette!

This month’s gorgeous technique is Faux Frame!

(A2; Paper: Momenta (Jack Frost); Stamps: Hampton Art (Outlines); Verve (Ornamental Christmas); Ribbon: Really Reasonable Ribbon; Die: Spellbinders (Labels Eighteen and Fancy Tags), Memory Box (Clouds); Punch: Martha Stewart (Snowflake))

This is a very easy and fun technique, so I hope you try it out! I love the “frame” around my snowman, which is colored with Copics and a gel pen. I used a baker’s doily for the base of the focal point, added Spellbinders and topped with the little snow clouds. Hope you like it!

To see how to make a card using this technique, go see Mynnette’s video at Technique Time Tuesday. Then make sure to link up your creation so we can all see it!

HAVE A LITTLE FUN TODAY

Hi sweet friends. I can’t believe it is already the first of the month and that means it is RELEASE DAY at Doodle Pantry!!!! Woo Hoo! Laurie has so much fun for us AGAIN this month! You will definitely want to check out all of the DTs creations, but first, let me show you mine!

(A2; Digital stamp set: Doodle Pantry (Igloo Fun) includes digital papers, images and sentiment; Border Punch: Martha Stewart; Button Punch: Marvy; Die: Spellbinders (Gold Rectangle One))

I used the precolored image, but I used the .png file so I could digitally color the snow and sky, and surprise (!) when I added the blue I could see the snow falling. I just love how Laurie always has all of these great details in her images. I think the only other thing that needs describing is the “button”. It is a paper button that has Stickles on it and then is coated in Crystal Effects to seal in any glitter that might want to get away. I did that so this card could go to Operation Write Home.

Here is the preview for Igloo fun:

Be sure to pop over to the Doodle Pantry blog and join in the fun this month! Want some freebies?
