QUILLED 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Hello blogging friends! I’m back today with a card that I quilled for my shop. It is a 50th Wedding Anniversary card:

(5x7: Quilled and dry embossed)

I needed a 50th Anniversary card for a friend, so I made some extra for my shop. This is a 5x7 card with dry embossing on the black and white layers. A strip of gold foiled card stock serves as the background for the machine-cut 50. The flowers and leaves are quilled in white, gold and black edged in gold strips.

Well, I hope you like my card. I really would like to hear what you think so please leave a comment!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy creating!

QUILLED FLOWERS

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share a new quilled item that I have in my Etsy shop.

The variegated strips are made from vellum. I have never quilled with vellum, but I love how it curls. This is a 5x7 greeting card that can be framed in a shadow box. The colors are greens, yellow and purples. The roses are more of a champagne color.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed seeing this piece! Please let me know what you think!

Happy Crafting,

CTB BINGO CHALLENGE

Hello sweet friends!  I am stopping in today to share my card that I am submitting to the  Bugaboo Catch the Bug challenge.  The challenge this week is BINGO and I chose the middle vertical row which includes Distress, Flower and Friendship:

(A2: Stamps:  Bugaboo (Life in Color),EF: Tim Holtz)

When I first saw this digital stamp I knew I wanted to try to quill it. It took a LOT longer than I exected, but I love the finished product. After printing the image and sentiment, I colored the image with Copic markers and then I quilled using the on-edge technique and a bit of traditional quilling. I am hoping the feathers can pass as flowers, and the sanded background counts as distressed. Of course the sentiment always work great for a friendship card! What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

QUILLING: YOU STOLE MY HEART

Hello blogging friends!  I have not posted a lot this week because I have been working on a project that took a while. Anyway, I am now ready to share it with you!

I repurposed a glass candle jar for this quilled project. Inside is a garden of roses, hearts, a vine, and leaves. It is a little hard to take great pictures through the glass, but hopefully you can see what I did. After the quilling was finished, I made a sentiment on my computer and added an eyelet to run the ribbon through. I just tied it around the top of the jar. What do you think?

Thank you so much for stopping by! Please take a second to let me you were here!

CHRISTMAS AT MY HOUSE

Hello everyone! This post is a bit different….no card today! But, what I do have is pictures of a hollow Christmas ball ornament that I quilled for my daughter. This was my first time making anything like this, so it took a while to complete it

This is quilled in pearl white and antique gold. I used lace around the middle and tied in a bow at the top. To make the greenery, I used a punch and punched several times, then glued them together to make them stronger. Red pearls were used for the berries. If you notice red inside the ball, that is some red gemstones that I put on the pin I inserted so I could string the ribbon for hanging.

I would love to hear what you think of my quilled ornament! Thanks so much for stopping by!

QUILLED WEDDING CARD

Well the weather is dreadful with Joaquin swirling around. I decided to stay in and make an elegant quilled wedding card.

Size: A2; Sentiment: Doodle Pantry (Joyful Day); Dies: Spellbinders

I wanted to create a card that resembled the bride’s bouquet so I used paper strips to quill the flowers, leaves and flourishes. The main panel is from DCWV and is covered with a die cut from a SB die. I added tulle over the entire panel and then stitched the edge. I printed the digital sentiment and used a SB oval die. I added some little pearl beads at the ends of the flower vines. So, what do you think? This card will be available in my Etsy shop soon!

GREAT IMPRESSIONS INSPIRATION SATURDAY

Hello to all of my Great Impressions friends! Welcome back for more inspiration from the Great Impressions store! It is the third Saturday in September and there is still time to join in our challenge! Here is a little something to hopefully inspire you!

(A2: Stamps: Great Impressions Stamps (Second Spring - E550)

I love to quill and showed you some 3D quilling HERE. I decided to make some fall leaves and use the Great Impressions sentiment Second Spring to go along with them. People have asked me if I mail my quilled cards and the answer is yes. I have purchased small boxes that they fit in and I just wrap in paper.

I have been asked to do a tutorial for people new to quilling, so be sure to come back on October 4th to learn how to make the leaf on this card! It will be loads of fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by for a bit of inspiration from Great Impressions.

GREAT IMPRESSIONS: NO CARD OR TAG WEEK

Hello to all of my Great Impressions friends! Welcome back for more inspiration from the Great Impressions store!
Time again for NO CARD and NO TAG week!  I love to quill so I decided to quill a project to share with you: (Warning: Lots of photos coming)

This is a used Yankee Candle jar that I cleaned out and repurposed for my little garden.

I thought I would give you a close up of my toady. This is the first time I have done 3D quilling and I think he is just adorable!

This is the back of the garden and you can barely see my little 3D lady bug so here is a close up below.

I placed a round piece of Styrofoam in the bottom of the jar and covered it with moss that I bought in the floral section at AC Moore. After making all of the quilled pieces I attached them to floral picks and broke them short enough to completely push into the foam. I had to use long tweezers to arrange everything. Last, I made the sentiment “sign” using one of the sentiments from the Great ImpressionsToadally Awesome Set” and added it behind the toad.
Do you want to learn more about quilling? Be sure to check out my tutorial on October 4th. I will be showing a basic quilling technique and showing how you can use it to make a fall leaf. Mark your calendar!
Thanks so much for stopping by for a bit of inspiration from Great Impressions. Be sure to check out the current monthly challenge and don’t forget to link your GI creations at our CUSTOMER GALLERY!

QUILLED HUMMINGBIRD

Happy Sunday my crafty friends! I have something to share that is NOT a card, and not made for a challenge. You know I love quilling, and I have had this hummingbird stamp from Inkadinkado for a long time. I kept looking at it and wondering if I could stamp it and use it as a pattern to quill. Well here are the results!

Here you can see the stamp I am using and the quilled piece. I love to see the colors shimmer on a hummer when the sun hits it, so I used a mix of colors on mine. For perspective, the image is about 2.75 inches across so it is pretty tiny quilling pieces.

Here is the framed, finished piece. I used some card stock and Spellbinders circle dies to create the green and dark yellow matting. I then measured the opening in the white mat that came with the frame (from Michael's) and made the little yellow and green corner pieces.

I sure would love to hear what you think. Please leave a comment if you have time, and thank you so much for visiting my blog today!

Happy crafting!
