Our Daily Bread Designs August Challenge and Dare to Get Dirty

Hi ladies! I know, Monday (blah) but it is what it is so let’s talk crafting and have some fun!

I feel like I am buying something crafty all the time now.  Do you ever feel that way? Most of the time I buy on-line because Michaels and AC Moore are the only craft stores left here in Durham.  We used to have a wonderful store called Carolina Memories and I just loved going in there. That is where I started learning about card making and they had such a nice selection of items. But, they closed and now I seem to be checking out websites all the time!

My new favorite site is MarkerPops where I bought my Copics and my Wild Rose Studios paper and stamps. I also love Inspired by Stamping where I get stamps and wonderful flowers that actually work well for mailing! When I am looking for Spellbinders or any other easy to find items, I almost always go to Amazon.com and get free shipping most of the time!

OK how about that card? It is time for the Our Daily Bread Designs challenge at Operation Write Home and the theme this month is make a masculine card.  This is my last card for the Dare to Get Dirty challenge at Splitcoaststampers. I was hoping to get a card for each challenge but it was just too much for me. I had never played in the challenge and did not realize what I was up against! I’ll be better prepared next year.

This card has a good bit of distressing. It is made from black and Kraft cardstock and a manila tag. I embossed the Kraft with a Tim Holtz gears embossing folder, distressed the edges with a distressing tool and DI then stitched it to the base making sure to not get the sewing straight. I then stamped the manila piece with the car stamp, colored it with my Tombow  markers, distressed it with more DI, did the Tim Holtz “spritz and flick” method and finally stamped some images with Memento Tuxedo Black. I distressed the edges and stitched the tag to black paper. Lastly, I punched a hole for the gear and attached a piece of jute around the brad before attaching to the tag.  I added an eyelet on the sentiment and tied it with the jute. The sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.

TIME FOR WASHI TAPE AND LESS IS MORE

Hi sweeties! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend; I know I am! I’m still playing with the Dirty Girls in the Dare to Get Dirty challenge, so I have been crafting all week!

Today its time for Less is More where the challenge is a color challenge – use blue and green. Since these are my two favorite colors, I was happy to use them!

The pattern paper at the bottom of the card is actually three different Washi Tapes. The thin blue stripe is one tape, the blue on white floral is the second tape and the solid blue floral is the third. The green top is Craftwell cardstock stamped with a Waltzingmouse sentiment and Inspired by Stamping oval using Versacolor Lapislazuli ink.  A Prima flower and three pearls finish this simple card.

DARING TO GET DIRTY WITH MOJO MONDAY

Hi crafty bloggers! This has been a crazy week of card making with the Dirty Girls at Splitcoaststampers.  I almost forgot all about Mojo Monday until today and decided to use the sketch for this card.  This time, I decided to give a round card a shot; probably should have had an easier card in mind LOL. This card fits six (yeah 6) challenges including Mojo Monday. Enough talk; here comes the card…

The cardstock is Craftwell and Stamp School and the sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.  I quilled the flowers for this card, which checks off the Make Your Own Flower challenge. 

Here is a close up of the flowers.

I made chevrons and that works for another challenge.  I can’t believe how much time I invested in this card! It is the first time I have tried to make chevrons and that was a bit of a learning curve. I didn’t realize it was going to take me so long, but then I am slow!

I AM “INSPIRED BY STAMPING”!

OK! But I do love Joanna’s blog and her products. Today’s card does not use her products, but it is her sketch challenge, so I combined it with the Dare to Get Dirty challenge at Splitcoaststampers and Doodle Pantry’s monthly challenge to come up with this card.

I LOVE this sketch, in fact I know I will be using this one many times over!  The blue paper, image and sentiment are from Doodle Pantry.  The panel is paper from Cosmo Cricket and the flower is Prima.  Some Spellbinders, rhinestones and lace and this card is done!  OH WAIT! I almost forgot! I DID use an Inspired by Stamping stamp on the tag above the sentiment.
