MOJO MONDAY MM219 SHAKER CARD

Hello to all my blogging friends! Wow, I cannot believe this week is almost over and Christmas is just over a week away. I’m so happy to have everything done and ready, so now I can just relax and enjoy the season. Now, if it would just get cold I would really be thrilled!

Today, I am sharing a card for Mojo Monday….see what I mean about the week getting away from me?  Well, this week MM219 was an awesome sketch and here is my take on it…

I have always wanted to try a shaker card so this week I decided to just do it.  I also wanted to incorporate it into the MM sketch so that was a lot of fun and it took a few tries to get it right.

You can just see the items I put in the “shaker”, Happy Birthday sentiment, balloons, and light blue seed beads.

The pretty flowers are from Rubber Stamp Tapestry’s Pottery Garden set. I made the “garden” in the box and then stamped and cut out the foreground  and mounted using dimensionals.

The sentiment “flowers feed the soul” is from RST too.  The base of the sentiment medallion is made using Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles Large and the circle is made using Sizzix Sizzlits Circle #2.  Glam Gold ink was used to color the circle and then I masked the circle leaving a small edge uncovered and inked that with VersaColor Lapislazuli using a cotton swab.  Light blue seed beads finish off the sentiment medallion.

The small rosette on the bow was crocheted by me. The instructions for crocheting it are by Jenn Ozkan and located here. It is so easy to do and is very quick to to finish.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Cut all paper
2. Attach two panels to base panel
3. Use RST rectangle positioning template to cut opening for shaker box. The actual size of the opening should be 1/8” larger all the way around if you want to add the dark blue border.
4. On white paper, position the template and draw a gold border along the inside using the gold pen
5. Use the stamp set on the white paper to create the garden 
6. Use a scrap piece of white paper and stamp the foreground flowers. 
7. Cut out the foreground flowers.
8. Make the “shaker” (instructions here).  Instead of cutting the hole in the card base, I cut it in the base panel so that when I put everything together, the inside of the card is intact and the base panel is elevated with dimensionals.
9. Once the box is complete, attach the dark blue border
10. Now attach the box to the back of the base panel
11. Attach the foreground flowers
12. Use Spellbinders die and cut the scalloped circle
13. Cut circle that is slightly smaller than the die cut…. I used Sizzlits Circle #2
14. Use Gold ink pad and color the white smaller circle
15. Mask the circle leaving a border. Use cotton swab and Lapislazuli VersaColor ink to create border on the circle.
16. Stamp the circle with sentiment
17. Add seed beads to sentiment medallion
18. Attach medallion to base panel
19. Add blue pearls
20. Using Liquid Pearls, mark dots on middle panel
21. Make bow. Add crochet flower to center. (Click here for crochet instructions)
22. Attach bow to base panel.
23. Attach base panel to card front using dimensionals.
